Scholarships

The Foundation runs the scholarships. This page is for members: when to apply, and what happens after you do.

The year

  1. Autumn. Applications open in the autumn.
  2. Mid February. They close in the middle of February.
  3. Spring. Decisions go out in the spring, before the academic year is planned.

Exact dates for each cycle are set by the Scholarships Chair and published once confirmed. We do not show last year’s dates as though they were this year’s.

The programmes

  • Joint Special Operations Foundation

    Merit Scholarship

The Foundation's general scholarship, awarded on an application reviewed by a committee.

  • Joint Special Operations Foundation

    Wounded Patriot Scholarship

A scholarship that recognizes a service-connected wound or disability.

  • Patriot Foundation

    North Carolina Patriot Star Scholarship

A North Carolina award administered by the Patriot Foundation, for study at an accredited institution in the state.

How an application is handled

  1. You apply in writing. One application, on the Foundation's form.
  2. A committee scores it. A reviewer related to an applicant cannot open that applicant's file, and a reviewer never sees the award amounts while scoring.
  3. The board decides. An award to a board member's dependent goes to the full board with that member recused.
  4. Everyone is told. Every applicant receives an outcome, not only the successful ones.

The Foundation does not publish the names of applicants or of recipients, and it never will.
